Day 165: Dressing up, undressing, and potty chairs!

I am still working metering with sunlight, a dark house, and my speedlight.  Add to that a color cast from a red fireman hat, and I gave up even trying to edit.  Maybe I’ll send these over to Ashley to see what she can come up with.

We have been working on practicing getting undressed.  This is part of Charlotte’s occupational therapy to be able to dress and undress herself.  She really struggles with shirts and doesn’t understand how to get her arms  out.

And Cooper was frustrated because he couldn’t figure out how to pull his arm all the way out or how to get it over his head (he needed a button undone).

And getting undressed means they get to use the potty!  We aren’t really putting much effort into potty training, besides offering and allowing them to use it if they ask for it.  I think if we got serious about it and put Cooper in underwear all day he might potty train fairly quickly.  He always goes on the potty or toilet when he asks or sits on it, and he lets us know when he is wet/dirty.  Charlotte doesn’t seem to be quite there and I don’t think I’m fully committed to deal with the mess x2.  Maybe over a long weekend we’ll give it a try and see how it goes.

(The skin tones are all wonky in these because I didn’t spend much time correcting the white balance.  Maybe another time.)

Day 164: Juice wagon, silly faces, and backup bed

I saved this little wagon that we received when Cooper was born.  It had flowers in it, but I figured it would be a cute toy when he got old enough.  Once the kids were able to pull it around, I tied a long ribbon on it and they’ve enjoyed it ever since.

I’ve been trying to use the late evening sun that shines in through our windows, but I’m finding it very difficult to balance the dark house and the sunlight streaming in the house.  At any rate, I was also trying to capture Cooper’s silliness.  He was having so much fun ‘dumping’ the ball out of the cup, and then playing peek-a-boo on the couch with me.  His ‘side-eye’ look makes me giggle.  He does it a lot and we always crack up.

(I just wish this one didn’t have a ton of blown spots.)

This is how I found Charlotte at 10:30 when I went to bed.  I moved her back into her bed, and then at 3:30 when Cooper needed help falling back asleep she was in the exact same spot.  Her speech therapist said she was super tired today and kept asking when she could go home.  I don’t think she slept very much, or very well last night.

 

Day 163: Sushi!

I won the giveaway for the sushi (Jen at 525,600 minutes hosted the giveaway for felt food from jdensing’s Etsy store).  These are super, super cute felt sushi pieces.  I want to play with them, they’re so cute.  I also want to go buy more felt food to stock up their kitchen and replace some of the plastic food the dog has gotten a hold of!  The kids weren’t too sure what to do with the sushi and they were having a WILD day, so I only got these 3 three photos and they were off to play.

Okay, so she figured out you stab the sushi with the chopsticks.  I should have ordered a second set just to get extra chopsticks…notice Cooper using a screwdriver as a second chopstick.

Scavenger Hunt

1.  Green:  One of my favorite dresses in my closet, that I haven’t even worn yet!  I generally wear pinks/oranges, and solids, so this was one of my first purchases in stepping out to cooler colors and patterns.  Now I just need to get the courage to wear it!

2.  Round:  Metal wall art in my living room.  I was trying to work on editing this photo and using textures (inspired by Ashley’s editing style at Ramblings and Photos).  I think it’s going to take more practice, but here is the before and after.

3.  Dirt – Missed this one.  I”ve come down with a stomach bug.

4.  Dad:  One of my favorite photos of my dad because it’s one of the few where he is smiling.  He didn’t know someone was taking his picture.  Of course now that he has long hair and a long beard (he was always clean cut growing up), I see grandpa instead of dad.  This is because Charlotte and Cooper chant Bampa, Bampa whenever they see a picture of him.

5.  Chocolate:  Smores Goldfish.  It really seems like a great idea, but the reality is that it tastes nothing like smores.  It’s not bad, but I don’t love it.  The marshmallow fish are like Lucky Charms marshmallows.  (Using my 35mm wide open and playing with depth of field.)
